Ploughshare Mixer to be Innovated and Developed in Foodstuff Industry
Food is the most important part in our every people’s life. Bakery, spice seasoning, milk powder, flour and nutrition is what we need in daily life. Food safety is highly concered by goverment and every consumers. How to control the safety and what could influence it? Production is the first and preliminary part that every manufacturer shall take it into consideration. As for powder food, mixing is a key and final step before packing. So, the powder mixer has to be designed and manufactured to meet FDA and GMP requirement. Besides the normal rules in GMP requirement, Vortex Mixing Technology is developing and innovating better solutions for it. Firstly, we start from ploughshare mixer to be designed as shaft take out type.
In 2013, a food nutrition company Glanbia found us to help them design a mixer solution for their new plant in China. Glanbia is a leading global performance nutrition and ingredients group employing more than 5,800 people across 34 countries worldwide. In Europe, they use Italy brand ploughshare mixer but they want to use chinese brand mixer in their china plant for localization. Cleaning and no contamination is the most important issue for Glanbia and the project manager also want us to find a best solution for them to make mixer easy clean. Although it has cleanout door on the vessel of ploughshare mixer, it can not clean every corner and part inside mixer and it is also takes long time to dry the mixer which affect working efficiency in daily production.
Through discussion in engineer team, we finally try to design the shaft of mixer which can be pulled out for cleaning and fast drying by air. Vortex Mixing Technology has done many experiment and innovated. First, we design screw rod and driven by gear motor to make shaft pulled out. In order to avoid plough shovels collide choppers, we install sensor on shaft and it could be stop at the same position every time. However, the motor must be with brake in order to make shaft stop smoothly and without error. Furthermore, the sensor switch will also be installed on screw rod when the shaft pulled out at fixed position. Second, the shaft connection shall be coupling type which must be strong and stable. Third, in order to save space, the screw rod will be placed on top not bottom.
After many times test, this easy clean design type ploughshare mixer can save 2/3 effort on cleaning and drying. The worker just need to pull the shaft out and to use water jet to clean shovels. Then, using air to make water dry. Not only saving much time and labors, but also the mixer can be cleaned thoroughly. This new type mixer will be developed in more area like pharmaceutical and cosmetics. We believe that it will have a good market in near future and will be welcomed by many Europe customers.
