Ribbon Blender Used as Dynamic Hopper Under The Mixer
Recently, we have some projects that customer want dynamic hopper with stirring system under our powder mixer in order to prevent the mixture change the density or block the outlet during the feeding process. Furthermore, there are some package machines or extruders under dynamic hopper to work at the same time to increase the working efficiency. However, the conical dynamic hopper can only has one outlet and installed one package machine or extruder under it. So, we design horizontal type hopper with ribbon stirring system to instead of conical hopper and it is well accepted by our customers.
The advantage of ribbon blender to be used as dynamic hopper is as following:
A. The most benefit of horizontal ribbon mixer to be dynamic hopper is working efficiency. No matter how big the mixer we use, the customer also needs big capacity package machines to match with mixer. But conical hopper just has only one outlet and can only match with one package machine which will have very big influence on working capacity and efficiency. Through our discussion with customer, Vortex Mixing Technology found a good solution for customer to use horizontal ribbon mixer with multiple outlets. One ribbon mixer can match at most four package machines under it. We design forward rotation and reverse rotation for ribbon to make outlet quantity uniformly. Furthermore, we also have discharge valve on outlet to control the discharge flow rate in order to prevent block at outlet.
B. Looking from dimension size, the conical hopper is high and need more space for it. If the plant size is limited, it is a problem for customer. The horizontal ribbon mixer can solve this issue and make the most compact size to help customer save more space.
C. According to our practical experience, the connection of dynamic conical hopper between mixer discharge port and hopper inlet port is very difficult because the drive unit is at top. If using ribbon mixer, this problem can be solved and you can put connection part wherever you want because the drive unit is at side.
D. Another problem of dynamic conical hopper is if have various and big different density material, it will make mixture separate. The heavy density material will stay at bottom and light on top. However, the ribbon mixer has no influence on it and can have homogeneous mixture. Although the ribbon blender looks like a dynamic hopper, it is also a mixer which can promise the homogeneity of final product before packing.
Actually, we have finished two projects that use ribbon blender as dynamic hopper under mixer. The feedback from customers is good and it is a perfect solution could be presented to more customers in the future if they want to maximize capacity and efficiency in a limited space plant.
